Introducing the great work of Marilyn Hamilton and Integralcity.com. Here we give a short glimpse into the brief of this powerful work and share Marilyn’s 11 Way Stations, as visioned and explored during September’s Peace events.

"Fundamentally, I consider that Placecaring and Placemaking are inextricably interlinked into a whole. But, the way that I have learned to hold that whole, is through keeping in mind what I have come to call the Master Code of the Integral City.

The Master Code simply says:

Care for Yourself.

Care for Each Other.

Care for this Place.

Care for this Planet.

In this Master Code context, I am using the word “Place” to represent the city and “Planet” to represent the Planet of Cities … When we can care like this simultaneously with all 4 Voices, in all situations in the city, then we will have mastered and integrated the wholeness that is Place and the functions that enable the well-being of Gaia’s Reflective Organ."

Integral City celebrated September's UN Unity-Peace (UP) Week by imagining and visiting 11 way stations.

1. A Planet of Integral Cities connected in service to Gaia as her unified Reflective Organ System (GRO) in Unity with all life on the planet – acting locally, feeling globally, and thinking Kosmically.

2. As a Planet of Integral Cities, we affirm Interdependence with all life systems.

3. An Integral City exists in fractal relationship to its Environment.

4. An Integral City depends on and only thrives when there is Economic Justice as the goal of wellbeing for the Human Hive that regenerates sustainability and resilience.

5. The Integral City seeks Health for all as an outcome of co-creating the conditions for optimum wellbeing for all life.

6. Children and Youth are valued as the new generation whose quality of life depends on the Master Code of Care.

7. Women and Men play life-giving, life-sustaining and life-generating roles using the capacities of the feminine/masculine (consciousness) and female/male (biology) to partner each other and co-parent children and youth.

8. The Integral City ensures the Rights of humans in all its systems are counterbalanced with human Responsibilities so that the Master Code of Care – Care for Self, Others, Place, Planet – are co-manifested and coherent.

9. Freedom in the Integral City is reflected in the balancing of rights and responsibilities basing freedom on our 12 Intelligences and Master Code of Care.

10. Disarmament starts with individuals knowing they are safe, cared for and have the freedom to realize their highest human potential without infringing on others to do the same.

11. An Integral City is by definition a Living System – a Whole Human Hive.

History of the 11 Days of Global Unity and 11 Themes

Brief History of 11 Days of Global Unity and the 11 Campaigns For Change

The Origin of 11 Days of Global Unity

The U.N. International Day of Peace was started in 1981 as a day to announce and celebrate ceasefires in conflict areas around the world. It began as a moveable date taking place on the opening day of each new Session of the U.N. General Assembly in September. In 2001 the opening day of the new U.N. Session was scheduled for September 11th. So the International Day of Peace actually coincided with the tragedy of 9/11. A U.N. resolution permanently fixing the International Day of Peace on September 21st went into effect in 2002.

In 2004 We, The World launched 11 Days of Global Unity September 11-21 symbolically marking that transformative global journey from fear (Sept 11) to hope (Sept 21). Supporters of the launch included Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu and  11 Days Honorary Co-Chairs Jane Goodall, Deepak Chopra, Irene Khan (Secretary General of Amnesty International), Marianne Williamson, Hazel Henderson, Ervin Laszlo, Jonathan Granoff, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Robert Thurman, and many others.

Since 2004, 11 Days of Global Unity September 11-21 has become an annual worldwide convergence of festivals, concerts, broadcasts, forums, rallies and other programs by changemakers promoting peace, justice, sustainability and transformation culminating on September 21st, the U.N. International Day of Peace.

The Origin of the 11 Themes/Campaigns For Change

2011 was the 10th Anniversary of the tragedy of September 11th and the 30th Anniversary of the creation of the UN International Day of Peace. To mark this, leaders from many of the organizations that launched 11 Days came together and created 11 Themes for the 11 Days. After much negotiation we created what we feel is a comprehensive blueprint for global transformation. A flood of Partners began to work on these Themes and soon they became 11 Campaigns For Change that have become an inspiring international movement that goes all year long. Over 600 organizations have already signed up to collaborate on one or more of these 11 Campaigns.
